Speakers say journalism, mass media in transition
Two former Amarillo College students – both members of the AC Mass Comm Wall of Fame – spoke at AC this semester. Ben Sargent, a political cartoonist from Austin, spoke for the finale of the 2014 Creative Mind Lecture Series. Jason Boyett, a writer for Amarillo Magazine among other jobs, was a guest speaker the same day.

Carter Woodson, a founder of the observance of Black History Month, was a man who made a difference, said Dr. Brian Farmer, a social sciences professor.
According to Farmer, Woodson attended a national celebration in Washington, D.C., in 1915, 50 years after slavery had ended in 1865, to celebrate the accomplishments of African-Americans during the past five decades.
