The Amarillo College science department is starting its own testing lab this semester. Students in several science classes can take their tests anytime the lab is open.

A redesign team, made up of several faculty members from the science department, conducted a survey last year asking students what they wanted. The main thing the students said they wanted was more time with the teachers.

AC debuts Money Management Center

The Amarillo College Washongton Street Campus hosted an open house for its new Money Management Center Jan. 30.

The center is a resource for students to go for help with money management. Its main goals are to help students understand key personal financial concepts, encourage student retention and degree completion, facilitate career readiness, lower overall student debt levels and prevent student loan default, said Lisa Bentley, director of the Money Management Center.

Dedication leads Moseley to recognition

On Jan. 24, Bruce Moseley, business department chairman and an assistant professor in the paralegal department at Amarillo College, traveled to Austin to receive the Pro Bono Award.

The Legal Services Corporation and the Texas Access to Justice Foundation presented the award to Moseley and five other Texas attorneys at a joint event celebrating the 30th anniversary of TAJF.

Asia Project poetry slam to inspire students

Each month, the Student Government Association hosts an event for Amarillo College students, faculty and staff.

At noon today, the SGA will host a poetry slam featuring the Asia Project. Free lunch will be provided. The event will be in the SGA lounge in the basement of the College Union Building on the Washington Street Campus.
