Few people are fortunate enough to make a living doing something they truly love. At least one instructor at Amarillo College feels lucky to be one of the few.
When he was working on his degree in business administration at Texas Tech University, Cox chose history as an elective.
The 21st Century After-School Program has been helping Amarillo College club members mentor students at San Jacinto and Whittier elementary schools since fall 2011. The grant program was started to support the “No Excuses” philosophy.
Hilary Cordero, program coordinator, schedules the activities between clubs and schools. The goal of the program is to help motivate children to seek post-secondary education.

I detest litter, especially because there is absolutely no reason for it. Tossing a soda can out of the car window is no big deal; it’s just one can – except it isn’t. There are more than 20 million drivers in the state of Texas. Just imagine if everyone tossed “just one” thing out the window every day.
Dalila Paredes has received an award for excellence in student completion for her foundational work to integrate the Science Enrichment Center with science courses and faculty.
Paredes, a biology instructor and the full-time supervisor of the SEC, is one of six faculty members who received an inaugural Faculty Excellence Award presented last August.
Each award was accompanied by a $500 stipend.
Students have a voice on campus, and it can be heard through “BadgerBS.” “The name is a play on a more commonly recognized term, but in this case it stands for “Badger Banter Session.”

Like an oasis in the desert, so is Rain Premier Sushi Bar and Lounge in downtown Amarillo. The name alone, Rain, invites a cool and refreshing atmosphere. This tasty treasure can be found inside the historic Paramount Theater building at the corner of Ninth Avenue and Polk Street.
Each month, the Student Government Association hosts an event for Amarillo College students, faculty and staff.
At noon today, the SGA will host a poetry slam featuring the Asia Project. Free lunch will be provided. The event will be in the SGA lounge in the basement of the College Union Building on the Washington Street Campus.
