The Houston based alternative rock band, Blue October is returning to Amarillo after nearly a decade.
One of their tour locations happens to be Amarillo. The band will be at the Amarillo Globe News Center for The Performing Arts, April 5, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by Amarillo College’s radio station FM90
Tickets can be purchased through panhandletickets.com and range from $40 to $70.
“We do not yet have info on if there will be any other bands playing, I’m sure they will have an opening band but we have not been informed of that yet,” Amy Presley, FM90 program director, said.
“I would love to do more events like this, this event just kind of fell in our lap. The band was coming back to town and they asked us if we would mind welcoming them so I feel it was a nice partnership between us and them,” Presley said.
“It’s been eight years since the last time they came to town and some of their bigger hits have happened since the last time they were here. So, I think this is a new audience that we’re introducing to them, so I’m hoping more people discover their music,” Presley also said.
Blue October fans are ready for the event. “I am very excited and can’t wait for this to happen,” Filimon Aleman, a mass media major, said. “They’ve been my favorite band since my emo phase.”
Even though some students don’t know who Blue October is, they’re still excited. “I had no idea that this was going on, I have never really heard of that band before but I think it is so cool that they’re coming to town as a part of their tour.” Suleyka Martinez, an education major, said.
