Amarillo College now offers students opportunities to get connected with jobs inside and outside of AC. The college has adopted a new program called GradLeaders.

Not only does AC give students the opportunity to work on campus, the “Career Services department teaches you how to apply for jobs and craft your resume for student employment jobs and off campus jobs,” said Taylor Bingham, Career Center director, said.

This gives students the help they need to make an outstanding resume if they are having trouble and don’t know where to start, Bingham said.

To use the GradLeaders program, students should go to the Amarillo College website and create a free GradLeaders account. Then students can simply start “searching for jobs, applying for jobs, upload resumes and see upcoming events and job fairs,” said Bingham.

Popular positions that are available on campus include the Advising and Tutoring Centers, Badger Café and other departments. “We do all this so that you can practice applying for jobs and obtaining jobs to prepare you for future success,” said Bingham.

Bingham said this is great practice Amarillo College is providing for students and are currently trying to get more students involved in this opportunity.

There are a few requirements to be able to work for certain jobs on campus. “You have to be taking at least 6 hours over the long semester, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be in good standing and you can only work 20 hours a week,” Bingham said.

This gives students the opportunity to work before or after classes so they get hours  in. AC wants to see students succeed and be able to put in work hours without it interfering studies.
