Students are giving high marks to Amarillo College’s newly revamped website. The first phase of the website redesign debuted at the end of August. It features a simplified navigational structure and a more colorful look.

“The upgrading of the website was a collaborative effort of the information technology and the communications and marketing departments,” said Wes Condray-Wright, AC director of communication and marketing.

Student reactions to the changes have been positive. “Before the update the site seemed dull and lacking color. Since the changes have been made however, it feels more modern, organized, and much more captivating with better color schemes,” Andrea Terah, a nursing major, said.

All students use the website often, but marketing officials said the old site did not meet incoming students’ needs.

“The old site was not fit for newcomers, but now it is more user friendly, sensible and applicable for future students,” Sadie Newsome, digital communications coordinator, said.

Additional changes to the website will be made in multiple installments. This first phase took about seven months to complete, Newsome said.

According to students, the update makes a big difference.  “It was very helpful how easily accessible information on things such as student affairs, financial aid and advisement were,” Tommy Phannaraj, a computer programming major, said.
