Fall brings fair fun:

By Mackenzie Farmer:
Fall is quickly approaching and the change of seasons brings many events for Amarillo. One major event to help usher in this new season every year is the Tri-State Fair and Rodeo. The fair kicked off Friday September 15 at 4 p.m. and lasts until Saturday September 23.

There will be a discount for college students on Thursday Sept. 21. All students can bring their college ID and get free gate admission, concerts and entertainment shows all day.

During the week, there are many events going on including food, rides, rodeos, concerts, entertainment shows and different exhibits.

“My favorite part and the thing that I go to the most would have to be the parade,” Emily Peters, a general studies major, said.

Christy Rojas, a physical therapy assistant major, said she feels like the fair is too expensive. If you are looking to keep yourself on a budget but still want to attend the fair, you can enjoy daily deals and discounts, such as free admission starting Mon Sept. 18 until 1 p.m. and continues through the week.

“I usually like to go to the fair in the afternoon rather in the evenings,” said Peters. “I honestly just like to go for the food, and it’s less busy at lunch.”

“The most interesting things are the shows and the performers that do crazy stuff which is really cool,” said Rojas.

The Tri-State Fair and Rodeo is open every day until midnight and rides open at 4 p.m. on weekdays and 1 p.m. on weekends. For the complete list of events and daily discounts you can check out www.tristatefair.com.
