Amarillo College Board of Regents approved several budget amendments at the monthly regents’ meeting Sept. 24.

Funds were granted to finish the Micro-Biology Lab, renovation of Dutton Hall and renovation of the first floor of the College Union Building.

Plans for the Dutton Hall renovation include new sidewalks, east entrance renovation for handicap accessibility and a complete renovation of the inside. Construction is estimated to be completed fall 2014.

The first floor of the CUB where the dining area of the cafeteria is will be turned into a student living room. Vending machines will remain, but couches, chairs and tables will be added in order to give it a more “homey” feel.

The bookstore showroom floor will be enlarged as well. Renovation is estimated to be completed spring 2014.

Funds were also approved for a SimMan Essential Complete Manikin for the nursing resource center. The manikin will provide students practice by portraying different patient scenarios and allow the students to assess using their senses.
