The Common Reader chosen for the 2012-2013 academic year is Leadership, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s autobiography filled with leadership and management advice.
In the past, the Common Reader has been selected by a focus group made up of Amarillo College students, faculty and staff.
This time, AC is pairing up with a sponsor, the Underwood Law Firm, which plans to bring Giuliani to Amarillo in the fall as part of its 100th anniversary celebration.
A limited number of tickets will be available to AC students for Giuliani’s lecture later this year.
AC students also are encouraged to read The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan.
The award-winning book shares the stories of six families who survived the Dust Bowl during the Great Depression.
Egan will visit AC and give a lecture in the fall.
