“She understands the impact on young people and how that love of education changes their whole lives,” Mayor Paul Harpole said. “If you look at the work she does and that the school does to help young people and to help children, there’s no denying that it has a huge impact on our community.”

Two faculty members have been recognized for their efforts to usher Amarillo College into the modern medical age.
Khristi McKelvy, a nursing instructor, and Debby Hall, an assistant professor of nursing, said they realized graduates of the nursing program will be stepping into information technology-dominated health care environments
AC world travelers return
Two former Amarillo College students – both members of the AC Mass Comm Wall of Fame – spoke at AC this semester. Ben Sargent, a political cartoonist from Austin, spoke for the finale of the 2014 Creative Mind Lecture Series. Jason Boyett, a writer for Amarillo Magazine among other jobs, was a guest speaker the same day.
I did it. It was crazy. It was weird. But, standing in the middle of Market Street, I realized I had actually done it. I had used chemistry and math outside of class.
Let’s rewind back a decade or so to when I was in the third grade. This was the first time I wondered about the importance of school.
There’s a vibrant scene in the Amarillo art world filled with live music, art, drinks and food. It’s the Amarillo Museum of Art’s Art After Dark event.
“When people think of art they tend to think of one thing, but it’s not just one thing at all,” said Judy Youngblood, an artist responsible for the print exhibit, “Hydrologic.”
