Amarillo College’s FM90 and AC Student Media have teamed up for another year to give back to the AC community with the Stocking Stuffer Giveaway. Now in its third year, the giveaway offers prizes in exchange for donations benefiting the Advocacy and Resource Center.
Donations can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the FM90 Studio in Parcells Hall/KACV, Room 105 or Parcells Hall, Room 104. Supporters have the chance to win records, band memorabilia and FM90 merchandise. “Every year we have different prizes,” Amy Presley, FM90 program coordinator, said. “We never know what the record labels are going to send us. The first year they sent us a guitar autographed by the band Dreamers. We’ve given away autographed records, exclusive band merch like Christmas sweaters, scarves and hats,” Presley said.
There are two ways to enter the drawing. Other than donating three hygiene products for one entry, FM90 listeners can call in at certain times to qualify for the Stocking Stuffer Giveaway. “Not only does the giveaway bring our campus community together for a great cause, but it’s also a reminder of how small contributions can make a big impact on someone’s life,” Maddisun Fowler, mass media instructor and student media adviser, said.
Presley said FM90 is committed to continuing the Stocking Stuffer Giveaway tradition. “FM90 will continue to do this contest for as long as we can,” Presley said. “We love helping out students, giving prizes away to listeners and partnering with AC Student Media. The giveaway has created lasting memories for winners. “I actually got one of my most prized possessions through the Stocking Stuffer Giveaway,” Fowler said. “It’s an old school red Two Door Cinema Club alarm clock. I’ve actually never taken it out of the box it came in.”
Donations will be accepted until 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Winners will be announced during an all-vinyl edition of “When it Began.”
