Legally Blonde: Twist Of The Times

Not many people appreciate the arts, but musical theater plays an important role in shaping the arts. In the same way, many people don’t understand just how much effort needs to be put into being a part of a musical, such as “Legally Blonde.” For this musical, the entire cast had to work very hard in order to get into character, memorize their lines and make sure it was as similar to the movie as it could be.

Elle Woods will stop at nothing to get her lost love Warner back as she feels driven to follow him to Harvard Law School. Elle’s determination, courage and resilience is what shapes Legally Blonde into what it is and makes fans love it so much.
The sets were fascinating. Among my favorites were Harvard Law, specifically the courtyard and classrooms, the courtrooms, Elle’s bedroom and UCLA. These sets are my favorite because they set the tone for the musical so well. If I had to pick just one set to be my favorite, it would be Elle’s bedroom because it’s so beautiful.

In addition to the sets, I also loved the acting. The performances were truly nothing short of phenomenal. The ones that captivated me the most were those of Elle (Hannah Bonnett), Warner (James Oblak) and Emmett (Aathaven Tharmarajah). In my mind they were perfect for their roles, from the costumes to the vocals and even their lines. Elle, Warner and Emmett are among my top favorite characters and I truly can’t think of anyone who could portray them on stage better than those who did.

Even though I loved the sets and performances, my favorite part was definitely the music. My favorite songs were “Serious” (sung by Warner and Elle), “Chip On My Shoulder” (sung by Emmett and Elle), “Legally Blonde” (sung by Elle and Emmett) and Find My Way/Finale (sung by Elle, Paulette and Company). I love “Serious” because it represents the turning point of the musical and focuses on Warner’s hopes and dreams for the future. My favorite lyric is sung by

Warner. He sings: “So baby, give me your hand, I’ve got some dreams to make true, I’ve got the future all planned. It’s time to get serious, time to get serious.” I love this lyric because Warner sounds so determined to make his dreams come true. He intends to make the future everything that he wants it to be.

“Chip On My Shoulder” is my favorite song in the musical. It is sung by Emmett and Elle. Through the song Emmett’s goal is to encourage and motivate Elle. My favorite lyric is sung by Emmett. He sings:
“There’s a chip on my shoulder
And it’s big as a boulder
With the chance I’ve been given
I’m gonna be driven as hell
I’m so close, I can taste it
So, I’m not gonna waste it
Yeah, there’s a chip on my shoulder
You might want to get one as well.”
This song is my favorite because the lyrics are so powerful and captivating. The musical truly wouldn’t be the same without this song along with “Legally Blonde” sung by Elle, Paulette and Company. This song has a great amount of heartfelt emotion that is nothing short of enthralling. My favorite lyrics are:
“Take back the books and pack up the clothes
Clear out the room and drop off the key
Leave with what’s left of my dignity
Get in the car, and just go

That’s fine with me
Just let me be
Legally Blonde.”
I loved every minute of this musical, it was truly a captivating addition to the movie with extraordinary acting from the entire cast. It also proved in every way that the movie has stood the test of time and followed the storyline of the movie, but added a new perspective to it that causes fans to love it even more. I know that fans of the movie will love the musical just like me.
