Netflix + chocolate = true love

Ready or not, here comes the most obnoxious holiday of the year. Yes, I’m talking about Valentine’s Day.

If you have a special “boo-thang” for the holiday, then kudos to you, my friend. But all those other people, like myself, out there just dread this day.Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 5.07.31 PM

Not because we’re haters or anything, but because this day just reminds us more of how lonely we really are. Every store you walk into has a whole aisle dedicated to this one day that comes like a normal day and ends like a normal day.

This generation has made love so overrated and just so blah. People try to make it seem like if you haven’t found your “soulmate” yet, then you’re doomed for the rest of your life, because it’s either now or never.

I say that’s a bunch of crap. What is wrong with wanting to be single?

Relationships are fun and cute the first couple months. You know, the cute couple picture and Facebook statuses about how happy you are with that person and this and that.

Like, OMG, we get it, people. You’re in love. But what happens when you start really seeing that person for who they are? Do you still post little cute statuses about them and your happiness?

We’ve all had our share of heartbreak, and from past experience, it literally feels like your heart is breaking.

So why would I want to put myself through that again for a silly little holiday that comes and goes?

What is going to happen after Valentine’s Day? Are you still going to surprise me with chocolate and flowers, or are you just doing it because its Valentine’s Day and that’s what’s expected?

Don’t get me wrong; love is a beautiful thing, and if you have it, enjoy it.

But for me, I’m just going to wait until chocolate is 50 percent off and stuff my face to Netflix. Now that’s what I call true love.
