No Shave November

Every November, hundreds of men ditch the razors to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society.

A group at Amarillo College decided to help out by ignoring their normal shaving routines this November. Participants included Daniel Esquivel, Hinkson Memorial Campus executive director in Hereford; Monty Downs, a theater instructor; Jay Sawyer, a speech instructor; and Quintin Marquez, a mass media major and BadgerBS video host.

No Shave November serves “to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free.”

Participants donate money they usually would spend on grooming, such as shaving, waxing, trimming or threading. Donations are used for cancer research and to provide free information and services to cancer patients and their caregivers.
