AC students and faculty prepare for summer

AC students and faculty have a variety of plans for this summer; some include traveling and fun while others include studying and classes.

Mary Phongphraphan, a pre-medicine major, plans to attend summer classes. Phongphraphan said, “Since education is so pricey, I plan to utilize the pharmacy technician program I have come across and later attend medical school.” Mary said she plans to take, Biology I, Biology II, trigonometry, and BCIS online.”

Casey McGee, coordinator of the Library Learning commons, is planning on a family reunion for the Coffey- Skeen- McGee family reunion. McGee said, “People who know me will not be the least surprised, they know I am all about family.” McGee said the reunion will commence in Lubbock, Ulysses, Kan., and Logan, N.M.

Dena McFalls, a nursing major, is going out of the country. She will be visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in June. She is going with a friend from high school. McFalls said, “I plan on sight-seeing, golfing, scuba diving, and snorkeling,” McFalls said.” I am very excited to be going and to be seeing a great friend”.

The Dominican Republic is a Caribbean island located outside of the United States off the coast of Florida.

Julie Simpson, a nursing major, will be traveling to Hot Springs, Ark. Simpson plans on going to Lake Ouachita. This lake is the largest lake in Arkansas “I have always wanted to visit Arkansas,” Simpson said.” I have heard about the hot springs. My daughter and I are looking forward to traveling sometime in June.” Simpson said she will be enjoying the lake with friends. On her way driving home she will make a stop in Fort Worth to see family.

Amarillo has a few sight-seeing places of its own. AC is only a 20 minute drive from Palo Duro Canyon state park. The city also has Splash waterpark located at 1415 Sunrise Drive and city pools in Canyon and Amarillo. Also a splash pad in Memorial park which is to the south of the campus. Whatever your summer plans may include, stay safe and have fun.
