The Amarillo College Fine Arts department has a full semester planned for the Spring 2012 term. With several concerts scheduled to take place in the AC Music Hall and theatrical performances taking place at the AC Theatre, fine arts students are going to be busy.

Stephanie Chevalier, a theater arts major, said two productions are scheduled this semester – Medea and Sweet Charity. Students currently are preparing for the first production.

Dr. Weber, choral director and music professor, said there are a number of concerts set to take place this spring, with an Honors Recital scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today in the Concert Hall.

The Visual Arts department also has a lot going on this semester. Chris Perez, a graphic design instructor, said the graphic design club, Command+Z, is planning a trip to Austin for members of the club.

Photography Instructor Rene West has a number of shows coming up this semester filled with student and professional photography.

Work that was entered in the Common Reader Visual Arts competition currently is on display in the Lynn Library and will remain through March 11.

In Gallery 204, located on the second floor of Parcells Hall, photography student Travis Lindow will have his night photography work displayed through March 2. West’s students also participate in an outreach program at the end of the year.

“We teach kids how to take photos and their work will be featured during open house,” West said.

The outreach program involves students of San Jacinto Elementary School.
