Paying it forward, giving back and volunteering are just a few phrases that can be used to describe the actions of students on the peer leadership team.
“It is volunteer work,” said Trena Rider, mentoring program coordinator. “They are volunteering because they want to help others be successful, so it’s a pretty big deal.”
“She understands the impact on young people and how that love of education changes their whole lives,” Mayor Paul Harpole said. “If you look at the work she does and that the school does to help young people and to help children, there’s no denying that it has a huge impact on our community.”

Jason Boyett, a writer for Amarillo Magazine among other jobs, was a guest speaker the same day.
There’s a vibrant scene in the Amarillo art world filled with live music, art, drinks and food. It’s the Amarillo Museum of Art’s Art After Dark event.
