BREAKING NEWS: Classes cancelled at all campuses for a second day

Amarillo College has cancelled all classes for Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013. Classes were also cancelled on Monday, Feb. 25.

Students received an alert via phone call, text message and/or email from AC Alert at 5:21 p.m. stating, “This is Amarillo College. Due to the dangerous road conditions, all Amarillo College Campuses will be closed Tuesday, February 26th.”

On their Facebook page, the Texas Department of Transportation discouraged Texans from travel due to the blizzard conditions.

“Currently TxDOT is assisting local, state law enforcement and the National Guard with finding stranded motorists. Please stay at home if you’re in the blizzard areas,” read a post on their page.

Much of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles received multiple inches of snow by Monday afternoon, with Amarillo receiving at least 17 inches, Amarillo Globe News reported.

  • Church of Quail Creek: Ladies Bible Study canceled
  • Pentecostal Temple: Services canceled this evening through Wednesday evening
  • Pediatric Ophthalmology of the Panhandle – Dr. Tracy Crnic’s office

Delays

  • Childress ISD: 10 a.m. start
  • Guymon, Okla.: one-hour delay; buses in town only
  • Texhoma: 9 a.m. start, no buses
  • Dr. Reagan Crossnoe’s office: open at noon
  • Atmos Energy: offices open at 10 a.m.

Postponements:

  • Amarillo College Board of Regents meeting: Rescheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday on the second floor of the College Union Building on the Washington Street campus.
