“Finch” is a self-care app which focuses on goal setting, productivity, and promoting healthier habits in everyday life. Upon downloading, users can hatch their own virtual pet bird and help it grow by completing goals and going on adventures. There are a wide variety of color options to choose from and you also get a unique micropet who joins your finch on the adventures, during which they will make special discoveries including food, drinks, books, and so much more. There is also a social aspect in which you can invite your friends to join the app, where your finches can become friends. Additionally, you can support each other by sharing goals and providing encouragement throughout the week.

When you complete your goals, you earn rainbow stones which can be used to send your bird on adventures, as well as outfit and birdhouse items and can even be used to send gifts to friends. A free trial of “Finch Plus” is available for users who want unlimited access to all features, including exclusive items from the in-app shop.

In addition to the forest adventures, as your bird becomes older it can travel to different countries within the app. My bird is named Sage, she is an adult and currently exploring Vancouver. I have been using the app for two months now. During that timeframe, I have collected nine micropets. These include Pinecone the Hedgie, Phantom the Mysterious, Lumi the Jellyfish, and more. One of my favorite things about the micropets is the fact that they too can become adults once they have been on fifteen adventures. I also love collecting micropet eggs, which you link to a daily goal to help it hatch. I really enjoy the  mystery of seeing what will hatch. I also enjoy dressing Sage up in her different outfits each day, chatting with her after each adventure, and getting to visit my friends who are also “Finch” users.

For me personally, “Finch” has helped me tremendously since downloading it. Not only has it given me something fun and interactive to look forward to each day, but it has also helped me be more productive and stay motivated to get things done. Checking off my goals fills me with a great sense of accomplishment and I am happy that I found a goal-setting method that works perfectly for me with such entertaining features as this one. I would one-hundred percent recommend “Finch” to anyone, especially college students with busy schedules like myself. I believe that it is a useful resource and well worth the download. If you love an app where you can be productive while also having fun, “Finch” is the one for you.
