As an avid country music lover, one of my favorites has always been Luke Bryan. I have been a fan of his for as long as I can remember. His songs are so inspirational and I enjoy hearing them when they play on the radio, which, lucky for me, happens a lot.

Like everyone else, I get excited when my favorite singers release new music. Earlier this year, Bryan released his six-song EP, “Southern Gentleman.”

The tracks on the EP include “Southern Gentleman,” “Do I,” “Strip It Down,” “Good Looking’ Girl,” “Shut It Down” and “To the Moon and Back.”

My three favorites songs from the EP inlcude, “Southern Gentleman, “Do I” and “To the Moon and Back.”

“Southern Gentleman” is an upbeat song about what it takes to love a woman in a gentlemanly fashion. The lyrics sum up the theme of the song perfectly. My favorite lyric is the chorus: “Stand up when you walk in the door, spin you around an old heart pine floor. Rock you baby on a wraparound porch, underneath a magnolia blossom. Walk you down an old live oak road, barefoot bridge, see a sunset show. Say I love you when I pull you close, and you know it’s true, as the Gospel. Ain’t nobody going to love you better than this southern gentleman.”

The song, “Do I” has always been one of my favorite Luke Bryan songs and I’m so happy that it finally found a home on an album after so many years. I like the first verse and chorus the best when Bryan sings: “Baby, what are we becoming? It feels like we’re always running, rolling through the motions every day. I could lean in to hold you, or act like I don’t even know you, seems like you could care less either way. What happened to that girl I used to know? I just want us back to the way we were before. Do I turn you on at all when I kiss you baby? Does the sight of me wanting you drive you crazy? Do I have your love? Am I still enough? Tell me, don’t I? Or tell me, do I, baby? Give you everything that you ever wanted? Would you rather just turn around and leave me lonely? Do I just need to give up and get on with my life? Baby, do I?” “Do I” definitely tops the list as my favorite song on “Southern Gentleman.”

“To The Moon and Back” is a really good country love song. It has a really nice beat to it, and I love the lyrics. My favorite lyrics are, “Through the dirt and the gravel, through the years and the miles, every road that you traveled. Through the tears and the smiles, through the clear and the muddy, through the thick and the thin. The quiet nights, the howling wind. Through the good and the ugly, the blue and the black. To the ends of the earth, to the moon and the back.”

In addition to “Southern Gentlemen,” Bryan also released two new singles, “Southern and Slow” and “But I Got a Beer in My Hand.”

“Southern and Slow” was a great way to follow “Southern Gentleman” because it fits perfectly with the theme of the EP, especially considering that it was released on its own.

My favorite lyric is the chorus: “I need slow and southern like a Sunday, like muddy water rolling by a riverbank. Like some sleepy little town, down with the moon, living like honey dripping off a spoon. Like the sun that takes an hour to get behind the water tower, ‘bout the speed of watching wildflowers grow. Ain’t but two ways this old boy’s going to go. Slow and southern, southern and slow.”
