When you walk into OHMS, prepare to be swept off of your feet.

OHMS is overlooked by the Chase Tower at 619 S. Tyler St.

With the friendly wait staff and peaceful environment, it allows you to enjoy dinner with that special someone, or if you have a one-on-one business meeting with a colleague.

If you enjoy peace and quiet where you can actually hear your own conversation, and tune out others around you, then OHMS is the restaurant to book your Friday nights.

When I walked into the restaurant, I overlooked the bar area where people take time to relax while drinking their preferred domestic or imported beer.

If a martini or a fine merlot is your preference, then, their wine list is also an eye catcher.

Once the hostess sat me at my table, I felt the relaxation take over my heart and soul. After studying and meeting homework deadlines all week, peace was something I deserved.

The oil paintings that bless their walls are paintings I want to put in my house, hoping it will give me the same effect. For those who enjoy lite jazz, they hire a band to play for their customers on Friday nights. OHMS is an upscale restaurant with entrees ranging from $24 -$30.

I easily give OHMS, 5 Michelin Stars. For those of you who like exotic entrees, I recommend you try the duck breast. Though seared to perfection, it is left with a hot-pink center to allow the duck to melt in your mouth. They also have elk and snapper entrees.

Their salad selection is also something to treat yourself to. Salad prices range from $7 – $12. I think it is worth the treat once you witness the décor.

As I conversed with my guest I noticed my surroundings were tuned out. I felt as if no one could hear our conversation. It is a perfect environment to settle a business deal in private. The restaurant is located downtown, across from The Chase Tower on Tyler Street. The location is convenient to Amarillo’s Center City Nightlife. Polk Street is directly behind the restaurant if you choose to walk around after you eat.

This year is the 20th year anniversary for the restaurant. The first owners were Englishmen, but since sold the restaurant to local Amarillo residents.

If you have not been to OHMS, let me suggest you treat yourself there before your financial-aid refund is spent.
