If a student is spending the majority of the day on campus, it makes sense to get paid for it.

Amarillo College offers a variety of jobs at every campus that can be anything from answering phones and helping students navigate websites to tutoring and keeping the college informed.

Renee Weiss, director of career and employment services, said students interested in being employed should visit the website, www.actx.edu/career, to get the process started.

After selecting their student status and preference for on-campus job listings, they’ll be directed to www.collegecentral.com/amarillocollege, the online job board.

Once there, Weiss said, the next step is to create a student account, enter information and upload a resume using the provided template.

The jobs are in various departments, and once the resume is approved by the Career Center, a student can submit it for the job for which he or she is interested.

Students must be enrolled in at least six hours during the fall and spring semesters and three in the summer. They must be in good academic standing and can work up to 20 hours a week.

Those who need help with resumes or navigating the sites can come into the Career Center, Weiss said.

“We’re open every day from 8 to 5, Monday through Friday,” she said. “Come on in to the Career Center, and we’ll help you navigate, show you how to search and how to build a resume.”

Weiss said if needed, they can stay open later by appointment to assist students who can’t make it in during normal hours.

The Career and Employment Center is located on the first floor of Lynn Library on the Washington Street Campus.
