Speak up against animal cruelty

How can someone not love animals? It’s insane, right!? It’s time to speak up against animal abuse and neglect. Staying quiet could mean death for these poor creatures.Animals always are in need of help, but with today’s society I feel they need it now more than ever. There is not a day that goes by that I am not seeing and hearing about some poor animal being killed or having to be rescued from some traumatic experience, and it seems to me that the stories only get worse and worse. I know you would rather not hear about it or scroll past it as I am sure many of you do every day, but this is a real issue, and it is happening. These poor animals are the ones living through it. We are the ones putting them through this, and we are the ones who need to end it. The Humane Society of the United States estimates that nearly a million animals a year are abused or killed. To me, that is just unacceptable, and as the human race, we should be trying to lower that number every day. For animal abuse in Texas, it is a Class A misdemeanor, a max fine of $4,000 and up to a year imprisonment … and that’s only for the people who get caught and have to go to court for the case. Many cases do not even see the courtroom because they never are reported, never heard about, they go unrecognized or they just disappear as the animal does. You can speak out, and you should. When you see animal abuse happening or hear about it, you can call the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), the city’s Animal Management and Welfare or even law enforcement. There always is something to be done and something you can do.You can give donations to animal shelters and places such as the SPCA, where proceeds go to saving the lives of animals. You can adopt or even choose to volunteer at local animal shelters and other organizations, which always are in need of help and I am sure would be very grateful.Help give these animals a voice. Help them live a happy life. Help by speaking up, because they cannot.
